. . . when it's ajar

All previous directions have served
to bring you to this threshold.
The door here is part of a wall
defining planes and spaces, sites and states;
it hangs in the frame of the greater view
you first see when you've entered it.
Whether or not the door swings freely, you've known for years.

What may be on the other side of the door remains,
for the moment, speculation. That it is a continuity
of a familiar landscape is no certainty, ever,
not even in the seeming absoluteness of fresh footprints.
It may be a space of Escher geometries, Moebius twistings;
it may be a Mediterranean sky in which Picasso's swimmer is
swimming above and below the line of the horizon, simultaneously.
Definitively.

The doorway takes the form of the unspeakable power
of the step waiting to be taken across the threshold.
It 's essential    to be able    to just walk through.
Even if you do fall off the edge of a world.

It could be a revolving door. Or an airlock;
a gateway to between a rock and a hard place.
If it's the door to, say, your train to luck,
you only have so much time to go through it
or you end up wondering what you're doing on the platform.

This platform may be the back side of a door
at which someone on another plane is standing.
This pattern continued discloses doors as floors as doors,
and so on and so
forth on the unending staircase the pattern describes,
the top and bottom stairs of which may be one and the same,
at different times and different places. It's a riddle.

Practical Exercises

Set the diamond of the mind in the gold of the heart.

Bow as humbly as you can with a thorn in your side.

Show your true colors through the prism of your breath.

Listen to the lyrics of the song of your silence.

Be the rainbow of the arc of the arrow of your covenant.

Grasp the form of water's movement.

Step beyond the threshold of your shadow.

Trustfully take the bull by the horns,
then make the beast a considerable shareholder
in the china shop that is nearest at hand.

the question
"over? gone?"

safeguarded
in the answer
"ever here".
